Veteran's Day 2018 (History and Deals List)

Flags placed in front of tombstones to honor deceased veterans
Military and civilian cemeteries host thousands of volunteers and staff every year who place flags in front of veteran's tombstones.

"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…”

History: Veteran's day initially started as a day to honor WWI vets, the day was originally called, " Armistice Day" and marked the end of hostilities of World War I that occurred at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month. A few decades and couple wars(WWII and The Korean War) later, and the day was expanded to include all vets from all wars. Today the holiday represents all military veterans alive and deceased. The highlight of the day comes at 11 a.m. with a wreath laying on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier followed by a parade.
